I recently went to The Burdekin for the Speak Up Sydney party which was held in The Burdekin's function room on Level 1. Apart from the fact that the RAYV team ran a kick-ass party [you can pay me later for the plug guys], I was really impressed that the function rooms are free to hire for anyone with no minimum spend on the bar (and drink prices are also very reasonable). Perfect for birthday parties or corporate functions.

You can bring in your own DJ or other entertainment and they provide staff to serve your guests drinks and food. The decor is really funky and they don't mind if you want to stick things on the walls (within reason of course).

There are several function rooms, all different sizes and the bar on the ground floor is for the general public.

What more could you ask for??!!

The Burdekin is one of my favourite watering holes in Darlinghurst. Right off the corner of Hyde Park near Museum train station, you will be spoilt with choice at the Burdekin.

The place is so funky! They've got a room downstairs called the Dug-Out which has lounges, mirrors, and a really initimate atmosphere. On the main level they have the usual pub atmosphere, but the crowd's always friendly, the drinks reasonably priced, and the food is great (although I'm always drunk by the time I eat there!).

Upstairs they've got a load of rooms - by far my favourite is the Mini-Bar. Great space for a DJ and some dancing.
