Submitting myself to someone else's ministrations using hot wax, a piece of fabric and my own hair growth on arms, legs and elsewhere is a penance I grit my teeth and bear as I must. Having sensitive skin, which can break out in a rash if not tended to gently, I am quite picky about my choice of beautician. So to find someone who not only makes the experience more bearable but is sympathetic to my pain and skin sensitivities, is a definite plus - and the reason I keep going back to see Krystle at Hair Den in Marrickville. Krystle has been involved in the beauty industry for years, and she treats each customer as an individual, with their own needs and preferences. Despite having a full weekly clientele, she also manages to remember clients' names and other personal details which highlights her appreciation of continued loyalty. Nor is she one of those beauticians who assumes they know more than their customer - she is always open to new suggestions, particularly in terms of skin care products. She's also flexible - she's come in early for me when I needed an 8:30 am appointment and stayed late one evening when I desperately needed to get my legs waxed for a function the next day. I have trusted very few beauticans in the past with waxing my more 'delicate' parts - but a Brazilian with Krystle has left me smiling, rash-free, and feeling comfortable in my own hairless skin.
