"Terrible for service and parts"
Please note: We are only reviewing Aaron + Jeff from Mr Drains who service the Hills District Area. Since Mr Drains is a franchise we do not want to damage the reputation of other plumbers who own a Mr Drains franchise in other areas as we have not used their services.
Review on Aaron from Mr Drains - Hills District Area, NSW.
Jeff sent me Aaron, who, on his first visit dropped a new $15 quarter turn tap I had purchased on the concrete & broke nut broke. He tried to make me take it back to Bunnings for a refund, saying it was faulty. I didn't want to do that because it was dishonest and I wasn't compensated. The work was good, I didn't complain, I thanked Aaron (it was an accident) & I paid no problem.
Jeff sent me Aaron a second time for other work, where he completed a bathroom rough-in, used a lot of my existing copper with some new copper, then Jeff insisted he charge me $200 for parts because "copper and oxyacetylene is expensive",and the 90 degree junctions are $4 each. I'm not a plumber or an idiot either. I don't think so.
Jeff had indicated in the morning over the phone that there was a good 2 days work there, a lot of parts, and he may have to go & help Aaron out. He quoted me $300 labour for the job plus parts which may be up to $200. Jeff said he would look after me in that area because parts should be less than $200. I said "fair enough" & agreed. When I arrived in the afternoon, Aaron has been alone all day, took almost 6 hours which meant that my builder on-site could not re-fit the bathroom walls. I had paid my builder to work all day said he said the plumbing would have taken a more experienced guy 3 hours.
The invoice was not itemised. $50 would have easily covered parts, even $100 would have been more than generous and I would not have disputed the bill at all. When I spokle to Jeff on the phone he said to me "if you want to whinge about a few bucks I'll knock $20 bucks off for ya" You don't insult customers and offer them a token discount of $20. What's $20 going to do for me? Aaron used no more than 2 metres of half inch copper pipe, & some retaining clips & a few 90 degree junctions. That's just greedy.
In all my dealings I was firm but polite and never mentioned greed or anything like that.
The drain waste & tap spindles had not been supplied fitted as I had requested in the morning, then I was charged the full quoted $300 labour & $200 parts plus GST.
I'm happy to pay GST but it was conveniently added onto the bill afterwards. If the goverment does not require tradespeople to specify whether or not GST is included or additional upfront, it would certainly have been aprpeciated. Jeff failed to mention it over the phone prior to the work commencing. Another $48 charge for me.
Jeff won't be getting any business from me, or anyone else I know again.
