When my friends invited us for dinner and drinks at the Australian Youth Hotel, immediately I imagined some dodgy pub full of backpackers, as the name suggests. Then, they said, we would go up to the Nude Bar afterwards for a drink, so you can imagine what I was thinking by this stage!! :-)

I can safely say that the AYH is not dodgy, not full of backpackers and the staff are fully clothed. It is quite a respectable place actually!

The AYH has a really nice atmosphere. There is a lovely beer garden and a-la-carte restaurant section with a great range of food, including burgers, steak, chicken, pasta and pizza, all at reasonable prices.

The concept behind Nude Bar, the cocktail lounge upstairs from the AYH, is that all the pictures on the walls are of naked females throughout the different eras. It is actually very cool and tasteful (believe it or not!). Lots of comfy lounges. It would be a great bar for a function.

I have since been several times and have grown to love the place, it has become one of my favourite pubs.

I have taken clients here for lunch, food and service was great.

I have had work pi55ups here, service was great and price was reasnable.

I have hired the nude bar for a client function - service was great and setting was suitably unusual.

I have drunken gotten hic. and left my card behind the bar,and they were lovely to me the next morning.

It works all ways round. Large outdoor area for smoking and summer. Cosey inside for winter.

A good pub with a varied crowd. The highlight is Naked upstairs which features a wall covered in 'period' nudes. A good spot for a dozen beers with friends. Friendly staff and very relaxed. The restaurant downstairs does serve excellent food and the brick walls give a good ambience. Small beer garden is perfect for a hot day.
