Review Guidelines
The RAYV Review Guidelines have been put together to ensure you and the readers of RAYV get the most out of your review.
Any business with a physical address that falls into the current categories listed on RAYV can and should be reviewed. Let your voice be heard, but also remember that you are responsible for what you say and the business can respond to your opinion if they wish.
What makes a great review?
What makes a truly great review is something that offers a personal account of your experience, is helpful with suggestions of do’s and don’ts to readers and offers an insider tip or two (if you have any). They always go down with a treat.
It also helps if you can identify the type of person who might like this business and perhaps any unique qualities that the business has which makes it special.
Do all reviews have to be positive?
Not at all. We love hearing about your good experiences but we also want to know about your bad ones. If it helps other people avoid a bad experience then good on you. However, make sure you detail all the relevant facts and details as to why the experience was unsatisfactory.
Am I liable for what I say in a review?
We absolutely believe in freedom of speech and we believe that people should always have the opportunity to learn from other people’s misfortunes. However, freedom of speech in Australia is not what it is in some other countries. RAYV is not responsible for what you may say in reviews. If a business disagrees with a review we follow a complaint process that allows the business and yourself to discuss the matter outside of RAYV. Click here to view our complaint process.
Can I review a business I'm connected to?
If you are connected to a business, through either a personal or professional relationship, you are welcome to provide your review, but we do ask that you are open about and explicitly disclose your relationship with the business in your review.
In order to keep RAYV reviews trustworthy, we need to make sure that the readers always know whenever a reviewer's perspective may be influenced by their personal connections.
Does RAYV remove reviews?
Very rarely. RAYV will only remove a review for a specific reason. Examples of these reasons could be:
Libel information that isn’t backed up with evidence. For example, if you claim that a business owner owes you money or didn’t deliver the product or service they promised, you need to explain why this is and how it happened.
Second-hand experience. RAYV is about personal experiences. If your friend had a bad experience then he/she should report this. Not you.
Personal issues with an employee. For example, you can't slam a bar just because the bartender didn’t call you after your first date (even though we both know he/she should have!). If the bar tender was providing a poor service, then that of course is fair game for your review.
Personal attacks. Feel free to explain your bad experience with a salesperson, but RAYV's not the place for vicious attacks or name calling.
Slurs and stereotypes. We're not interested in ethnic, gender and other protected-class stereotypes on RAYV. Your friends might know when you’re being tongue-in-cheek, but the millions of people who read reviews on RAYV may not.
